introduction

The brief for this project was to prototype a connected device for the home. The learning objective was to explore interactions across both physical and digital.

 

opportunity

Street parking in cities such as San Francisco can be extremely difficult. What if we could use technology to create parking without adding any additional city infrastructure? 

 

concept: Parc system

The Parc IoT system uses sharing economy principles to enable home owners to share their space in front of their homes as additional parking for their neighbors.

Parc's voice interface allows the parking guest to find a space while driving.

interaction: vehicle & device

The parc device is equipped with a camera and proximity sensor to detect and confirm that the vehicle is parked appropriately.

Interaction: guest & device

 

The parc device gives feedback to guests regarding check in and check out status. It also indicates transition states through blinking, such as blinking green while checking in and blinking blue while checking out.
